Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

what are the symptoms of inner ear infection? and is there a test for it?

kymber binkys and shakes his ears like a dog, (hes a lop)i am wondering if he is just being a lively lad or has something like an ear infection, although i took him to the vets for his check up and mysi and they said his ears were fine.

he has to go back on thursday for vhd, so i will probably ask for them to check again

eve x

he might have ear mites. have a look inside his ears, you might be able to see some crusty bits. best to get your vet to check it out though, cos if it's left, it could lead to further problems.

no thats what i am saying he has been checked by the vet and said he was fine but wondered if he could have somethink deeper in the ear or is he just excited to see me, he does it a bit when i get up. 9well this is what i am hoping anyway...

Bunnies often shake their head as they binky. If he does it other times as well then there might be something else going on.

my guess is that he is just playing, he is so fully of life, but was not to sure as i said he shakes his head like a dog whos wet, and just in case thought i would ask

thanks tamsin

A couple of mine shake their heads in a sort of lazy binky when they see me coming with their food. I take it as an 'I'm happy' gesture.

The key is probably whether Kymber seems happy or upset when he does it. Have a look at the rest of his body language.

he seems to do it alot in the morning, so my guess would be that he is excited about breakfast (he loves his grub) and i think he thinks hes a pup[y dog, as when i am sitting on the computer and he thinks he is being ignored he noses my leg, which i quite sharp i have briuses

i think i will get him checked out again at the vets on thurs. to be sure.

Having had an inner ear infection myself...I know how horrible it is..hope all goes well
