  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

It wasn't a cataract.

Just to let you know that Pie doesn't have a cataract it is just an eye ulcer so he has got eye drops that have to be put in at least six times a day.

he has lost a bit of weight but is very perky - I am going to feed him some baby food (as advised) to try and plump him back up.

The vet said he was "lovely" and that these ailments were just him getting old.

thats great news Pam :D your vet is right, he is lovely :D let us know how you get on with the eye drops, although I dont think you'll have a problem administering them know how laid back Pie is

Any news on Aggie and Twinkle :?: or is it still early days :?:

Glad it was nothing serious - but drops six times a day :? - bet you're both enjoying that - fresh fruit at the ready I think

Thankfully Pie is such a wee sweetie that he doesn't mind at all - he just snuggles in and lets me put the drops in without any bother. :D :D

He is also getting fattened up - Jim suggested baby food and he really seems to love the pureed parsnip.

I am sure he is loving all the extra attention.

lol Pam
