View Full Version : How many house buns?

Hiya the boss isn't about so here I come to ask another stupid question.

How many house rabbits have you had living in your house at any one time?

I ask this becuase if I am going to take on another four buns, I don't know how long I will be able to leave them in hutches before guilt gets the better of me and I want to bring them into the house.

So far I have two house buns Beatrix and Marly, they are happy and don't cause any trouble (except for last night when they both got stuck under the bath and we had dismantle the entire bath to get them out, but that's another story). They have a bed to sleep in, but they have both taken to sleeping under mine. I was wondering if anyone ever had six house buns and whether they are a lot more trouble then two?

I don't know if I will cope with six sleeping under my bed and trying to play with me while getting ready for work

Thanks in advance

I'm no expert on house buns but people have multiples of pets inside like cats and dogs, I would have thought they can't be any worse!

The majority are free range - it's only the severely disabled - like Scoot - who are in a cage but they still get out and have exercise and fun.
It's alright Bluebunny, we are mad

Ours have a room of their own, with a 4 story condo at one end to increase the space they have, they also have access to the rest of the house but only one or two use the stairs. We have the advantage that they all run together...

Jay's house doesn't seem crowded, there are just rabbits in every room, including one bathroom, last time we were there one bathroom didn't have any rabbits in it, but the bath was full of apples and greens... Not forgetting the shed in the backyard full of rabbits... :)

Oh my god that's unbeliveable - Brendan threatened me with divorce when I was talking him round to four - with 24 he'd bump me off to save on legal costs!

I only have two under the stairs and two in the spare room (oh and guinea pigs in the dining room, 5 toads in the dining room and a 7ft fish tank in the lounge - the rest are in the garage).

Ooo, what sort of toads do you have? We have them in the pond outside. They are very cool :D

I have fire-bellied toads I think there might actually be 6! I did have a pair of normal frogs too, they were hopping round my garden "hugging" as there is no pond I popped them in a spare fish tank and two days later had spawn. I let mum and dad go and when the spawn hatched I put the tadpoles in my parent's pond. The fire-bellies are a breeding project.

Over Christmas the plant in their aquarium/terranium got too big and pushed the lid up. I didn't realise one of them had go out until I found Zeus attacking his water bowl and Athena growling and attacking the bowl too - thinking they had pooed in it or something I went to change the water and got the fright of my life to see one of the toads swimming around in it!

It had hopped off the 4' cabinet where their tank is, out the dining room, across the kitchen and into the hall - luckily he found the nearest water source (the rabbit's water bowl) or he would have been Mr Crispy by the morning! Not so lucky for the rabbits though the toads are actually mildly poisonous - thank goodness the rabbits had the good sense not to drink!

My two are free range the living room is closed off when I'm not in, because of all the wires, but the rest of the house is bunny proof.

I have seven house bunnies. Unfortunately mine don't get on with each other, so each pair (and Sunny on his own) get exercise outside their cage in rotation. They are all in one room as the small furries and the dogs don't get on... well, the dogs like them very much - for dinner...

If I only had a couple of house rabbits, they would be getting more out of cage exercise. That's the only difference really. Oh yes, and I would probably be able to use a less powerful air purifier... (I am asthmatic and allergic to my bunnies and hamsters).

Well, now I feel totally inadequate as I only have two bunnies living in my lounge. I want another one (or two) but am worried that they won't get on and I'll have to keep them separate. My two are in a cage when neither of us are in the flat but when were home they have the run of the lounge, and sometimes the hallway too, but mostly they sit at the bunnygate and watch down the hallway waiting for us to come back.

when people talk about free-running bunnies - do you all mean they actually have the run of the house as a cat would? I'd be scared they'd hurt themselves or do you bunnyproof the whole place?

My friends thnk I'm mad having 2, I think they'd commit some of you lot!

 I have been told more times I was insane to have so many animals! But what can I say....atleast I will have plenty of witnesses when I finally get carted away!
I know that alot of people have problems when it comes to all buns getting along. I now have 8 buns and they ALL get along with each other. :) 4 of the buns I got as "teens" (from different litters)and the other 4 are Oreoelles and Maples babies. All 8 buns interact with each other on a daily basis and I can honestly say there has never been a problem with fighting. In another post I mentioned that I have the opposite problem....my buns are overly loving (said as passively as possible!
ALL my animals play with each other....hamster with piggies, buns with cats, dog with all of them! :D I'm not sure if buns works like cats and dogs, in the sense, the most protective dog will take to a baby where if it was another adult it would fight. :? My buns dont have free run of the home. They have their cages but are let into a huge pen that I have so they can hop around..get their excersize and interact with each other. I have all their toys set up in the pens and they are quite happy with that. :)

I would love 18 :) , I have been told that four is enough, any more I bring home will be assigned to the garage (yeah right it's my house  ).

I have my two G-Pigs their cage is five foot tall and equally as wide, they have a fancy one with all ramps and play things it's three storey's high. Also two cockatiels who have free run of the living room, luckily they spend most their time sitting on top of the cage so I don't have much problem with bird poo.

I have 4 house buns and 3 house gpigs.

The 2 girl gpigs get and and we are trying to get them to accept the male who was catrated just before Christmas. None of the rabbits get on (yet - its a work in progress). They live in 2 bedrooms (one is split in half) so they come out for half a day each in rotation.

The other half has been convinced that one the boy g pig is with the girls we have room for another bunny. I think he would like another g pig - so you never know.

We also have 2 dwarf hamsters who have expanded and have take over the dining room table and 2 budgies. The budgies have free range on an evening when we are home.
