  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pooping while being held

I've had a bit of an odd one with Athie today [emoji15] earlier I noticed he had a poop looking splodge on one of his back feet so I picked him up and cradled him under his front legs with his back against my chest and started to gently wipe his footsie.
Naturally after a few secs he struggled a bit so I put all feet down and comforted him and then lifted him again and noticed a bad smell and squished poop on my hand.
I cleaned it up but did wonder if anyone has ever been ceco or squidgy pooped on while handling a stubborn bunny?

this is based on my old & decrepid buns, past & present though. I'd be surprised if it happened to Joey & Boo. I'd keep your eye on it

Yeah I've had this once or twice if I've scooped them up during the cecal production part of the day.

Sometimes they get dislodged. I usually offer it back to bun for eating and if they don't want it just put it in the litter tray.

Very stinky!

ah I'll keep that in mind :)

Not sure if it was a ceco or not though, because it was all squished but it was way smelly and I know their usual poops are generally dry and no smell so figured it might've been a ceco [emoji848]
