  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

So phoebe has a history of dental problems. She was having dental every 6 weeks until i started them on a pellet free diet. Shes been dental free for well over a year.

However coming to do their panacur treatment as parents are away ive noticed these marks on her paws.
Could they be a sign of salivation?

Have you checked her bum ? The soiling looks a bit like dried cecotroph to me.

Excessive salivation due to Dental problems usually presents with a damp chin/dewlap and Phoebe's looks nice and clean and dry x

I groom her rear once every 2 weeks when I visit (to her hatred) because she does produce a lot of caecrotrophes... ive tried diet adjustments but unless she's on a hay only diet she produces too many.

Lopsy get those marks, usually when it's wet, and not all the time. He's never been dirty with it but I'll check better next time I see them. He's been bright white all over since. I've never seen any cause for them as such, and he's ben otherwise fine, just like Phoebe. The marks never stay for 24hrs, and if they do they're different so he cleans them off at some point.
