  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Good rabbit-friendly vet near/in Kidderminster?

My Netherland dwarf has started "chomping" her teeth over the past few days. The front ones are fine, not too long and lined up OK - so I am concerned about her molars.

I normally take both of our rabbits to the vets at the end of my road but I've never been that confident with them - and other people have found them to only be interested in running a business.

I'd like to find somewhere which is known to be good with rabbits, as the rabbit in question also has a few other things such as rotated joints on her rear legs, which can cause problems with toileting etc. My current vets just don't seem interested - apart from charging the consultation fee of course.

Thanks in advance.

hi there is there a pets at home store near you, they have an on site veternary surgery at the back and dont charge for the first consultation and/or to see the nurse. and there rates seem to be more resonable than private vets in my expierence other than that someone else maybe able to give you a recommendation if they live in your area,

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think there is one nearby unfortunately. I'll have a look on their website though to make sure!

Ok according to their store locator the closest on is 12 miles. Don't really want to have to take her that far in the car as my car is quite loud and also has sports seats so its difficult to get the carrier stable at the best of times.

You could also try the Rabbit Welfare Association on 0870 046 5249. Bare in mind even if you see your normal vet first you can always ask for a referal to a specialist :)
