  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Guess who had to go to the vets with a poorly tum earlier?

Luckily I phoned just as they were closing, and the vet nurse stayed until we got there, so no huge call out fee. Had metachlopramide & painkillers, and has improved since we've been home.

I knew this was going to happen over Christmas. :(

Touch (very large pieces of) wood, he seems ok this morning. Has eaten his brekkie and is out running around. I'm just so glad he seems to bounce back so quickly. I have more painkiller and metachlopramide if I need it, and there is a vet nurse at the surgery tomorrow from 10 -10.30 if I need any more, which is reassuring.

Thanks for all your get well wishes.

I can just tell now. :( With Evo, he starts to refuse treats, and acts all funny - he's agressive when you try and touch him.... he's growls! He also sits like he's uncomfortable, either all scrunched up & stiff looking, or partially lying down, with his head raised and twisted to one side.... I presume this is to try & relieve the belly ache.
