  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wait a second...

...I think my mini lops might be dwarf lops...

Weight at 15 weeks of age...1kg...if you ask me, that's too much, and they're of perfect weight with regards to their size and bone structure...

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I couldn't care less what breed my girls are, but I think they're weighing too much at 15 weeks to be minis...

Mini lops [show standard ] is adults should weigh no more than 3 and a half pounds, a baby under 3mth should not go over three. Dwarf lops should be no bigger than 5-4oz minmum 4-4. val

Cheers!

I left my breed book at home...and I was musing it over...they're not fat...yet they're about 3lb at 3 months of age....hmmmmmm

Not that I give a you-know-what...:D

Where did they come from? Unless it was a proper breeder they are quite likely to be a muddle and may not be either breed specifically :)

Tam

They came from Cadbury Garden centre. I took immense pity on them and paid a fortune to take them home...

They were advertised (yuck, what a horrible word) as "mini lops" and other rabbits around the corner as "dwarf lops", but I think they were pulling words out their arses...

at three mths they wont have stoped growing so chances are they will get bigger. The trouble is unless they are from a show breeder they are unlikley to stay within the limits anyway because whoever bred them wont be aware or care in keeping their rabbits too size. val

No worries. I'll keep an eye on them with regards to feeding the correct food, as I know they're not finished growing by a long shot!
