Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Cardiff Vet/insurance

Hello,
Bit of a long shot but wondering if anyone knows of any good rabbit vets in Cardiff,UK. I am a student so, much as I would love to have infinite cash for a top vet, I cant always go to the best of the best (of course, i will always strive for this).
In regards to this, does anyone have any recommendations for rabbit insurance?
Is it worth it?
It seems to be quite difficult to select one which is actually of a good quality and that will actually cover common issues rabbits face.
Thanks so much!

Hi!

I can’t help with a vet in Cardiff but I definitely think pet insurance is worth it.
I wasn't convinced it would be worth it but I’m so glad I decided to get it. My bun has been in and out of the vet over the last few weeks because he was going into stasis - the bill I would have had to pay ended up being quite a bit more than what I paid for the insurance so it’s been worthwhile for me.
I got my insurance from Petplan because I’d read good reviews and they do Covered for Life which (if I’ve understood correctly!) means that any conditions my bun develops over his lifetime will always be covered as long as I keep renewing the plan.

I hope that helps a little!
