Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Slight leaky eye

Meganb

New Kit
Hi everyone. Our rabbits are about 2 and a half months old and we brought them home with us last week. Our mini lop (crossbreed but we think he's mostly lop) has a very slight leaky right eye. I have attached a picture. Is this anything to be concerned about? Many thanks!

If this is the bunny you have described as being subdued on your other thread I would recommend you get him to the vet ASAP.

Thanks very much everyone, i've brought forward the vaccinations at the vets so that he can be looked at sooner

The eye in the photo doesn't look bad to me so don't over-worry and see what your Vet has to say. Also you said it was the right eye but the photo is of the left one? Have you looked into whether your Vet is experienced with rabbits - you can get a recommendation for a Rabbit Savvy Vet if you post on here asking for one in your area. Sadly some Vets don't know a lot about bunnies.

Its the right if you're looking at him but his left eye yes! We have signed them up to a rabbit friendly vets so hopefully the vet will know straight away if theres anything not right with him. Think I might be being a bit overly paranoid as they're my first rabbits :) Thanks everyone for your comments!
