  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on for a while, but I must tell about my bun Polly  , she has an absess about 4 week's ago, which just would not clear up, so we had to have her PTS last thursday, it was such a hard decision, I have now lost my breeding doe, but at least she is in no pain now.

So sorry to hear this news  . Rabbit abcesses can be extremely difficult to treat successfuly.
I am sure she will be binkying happily over the rainbow bridge now and as you say, free of pain.

Aww sorry to hear about little Polly :( :( My heart goes out to you Polly, its a very hard decision to make I know. I feel saddened when I hear someone else has lost their little bun as well, I really feel for you :(

I am really sad about your rabbit - but as you say she is now free from pain.

It is always devastating to put an animal to sleep and even when you know it is in their best interests it doesn't help to ease your sadness.

Sending you lots of hugs and best wishes.

lol Pam

PS Kim & Aggie send you big bunny snuffles

Oh Dear, we are all so saddened to hear your news about Polly.
Thinking of you and sending you hugs from me, and kisses from all the Sanctuary rabbits
