Rabbit Names

Hi Everyone,

I am struggling to come up with a name for our bunny, he is dark grey and a Netherland mix.

Any suggestions would be really welcome apart from the name Oreo.

Thank you 🐰

I get my rabbit names from all over the place - names that strike me in books, video games, even baby name books. Thematic names, names that honour past pets too.

Some suggestions...

Arlie - means "from the rabbit meadow"
Chipper
Minoth
Azurda
Bran
Fiyero
Boq
Kinsey

Welcome to the forum, any photos of you if bun? Have you got other pets and what are they named if you do?

I like to take a pseudo scientific approach to naming bunnies. It helps if you can decide which category to take his name from.

So, if you wanted one that reflects on his colouring you could name him Smokey or Dusty.

You could give him a human name like Roger, George etc

Name him after a cartoon character, such as Snoopy (which happens to be what one of my buns is called!), Scooby Doo etc.

Naming bunnies after plants such as Dandelion, Bramble is also popular.

Also there is the naming after foods such as Fudge, Toffee etc.

I always find that helps narrow down your choices. I also find it useful to let a few names percolate around my brain for a few days. One always seems to stand out eventually!

Anyhoo, good luck with your new bun and we’re all very much looking forward to “meeting” him on the forum when he comes home [emoji3]

My boys are named after Cab Calloway (the greatest singer or all time) and Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99, shortened to Perry as my boyfriend also loves Phineas and Ferb and they have a pet Platypus called Perry. At first, I didn't know what to call Calloway, but when we first got him, he liked to sleep in his "hidey hole" which became "hidey hidey hidey hooooole!" like Minnie the Moocher and it just went from there. Sometimes rabbits name themselves!
