Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi, I haven't Been on in a while but Jimmy has ongoing dental problems he had dentals every 4 weeks from January till June. The last dental the vets sent him home and he was no different, for some reason they hadn't done it , they took him back in and did it again. Since then we have went till now and he had another dental yesterday.
2 questions
How can he go 16 weeks inbetween a dental and then every 4 weeks. That is confusing. Seasonal maybe?
Do rabbits always have the ear shaved and a drip put in. He doesn't seem to of had that done to him this time, which concerns me because the same thing happened last time and it turned out they hadn't done his teeth and he had to go back the next day. (very bad practise I know.)
Any advice again would be very much appreciated
Thank you xx

I would most definitely look for another vet. I would have lost all confidence in them if they sent him home having not done anything!

Frosty had his ear shaved for the dental he had earlier in the year.

The change in frequency - does this relate to him eating more hay/grass/Readigrass previously at 16 week intervals? I would see if you can find a rabbit savvy vet/specialist and take him there to be examined. It could also be that the dentals aren’t being done properly or they are missing something.
