Identifying Breed

Dowens

New Kit
Hi All,

Im new to this forum, owned guinea pigs for the past 15 years, but since the last one passed have made the leap to adopting a bunny. Bonny is a large doe, she came with no real back ground information other than her approximate age (1).

She has had a health check and now have her scheduled in for neutering, however, not owning many rabbits in my time, am unsure of her breed which is needed to get her onto the pet insurance.

Few images enclosed, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Dan

Hello

Unfortunately the link you have posted does not show an image

These links may help

Is your Doe vaccinated ? She will need two separate vaccines to protect her from three lethal viruses, Myxomatosis, Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease 1 (RHD1) and Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RHD2)

The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) provide a lot of information about Rabbit Health and Welfare, this link gives info' re Vaccinations

https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-health/vaccinations/

I'd suggest having a browse through all the information on the RWAF site, you'll find it all to be very helpful.

sorry to butt in, this should work :)

you want the direct image link, or the image URL - you can find that by right clicking an image and selecting "copy image address" or "copy image url" or similar :)

for this image, the url is just this: https://preview.ibb.co/iisWGe/20180826_170642.jpg

she's a beautiful rabbit - I have no idea on breed though.

in addition to above RE vaccinations, you may also want to consider getting her microchipped :) just means if she escapes she can be retraced by to you via microchip. mine are indoor but I still have them chipped in case something happens.

it is good she is getting neutered though :)

Somehow binkyCodie somehow got the image up, that's Bonny, thanks for that! Any advice on her breed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

no worries :D I still had the original link in my history from your first post before it was edited :) this forum uses BB code, so image links need to go inbetween
. when formatting a post there is a bar above, there is one that is "insert image", click that and paste the image code into text area then press okay, it will do it for you. if in the future you need to post images, try using imgur, a free online image sharing site. they show direct links for their images, but also a BB code option, so you can just copy & paste that without using the insert image tool.

I do agree that she looks like a mixed breed, most insurances should have a mixed breed option :)

Hi there and welcome to the Forum

She can be called a 'cross breed' for the purposes of Insurance.

But for all other purposes, she is just gorgeous

Hello and welcome. Bonny looks very similar to my Hatter but he has more mottled grey. He was a Pets at Home rabbit too. He is a very good rabbit. Do you have a record of the vaccination/s from PAH. I have heard on here they just do one vaccine but you need 2.

P@H are aware of the 2nd vaccination for RHD2:

Yes, as tonibun says, please make sure that's done, as there's so many deaths from RHD2 at the moment:

Our local PAH only vaccinate for the time they are in the shop. Don't fully understand this but that is what he said.
