  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi All Need some help - my lovely Veronica is not doing well.
Took her to our vets last week but saw someone we had nt seen before
and it was awful! She s still traumatised and I feel so bad putting her through it.
I can t take her back there - he just said in the end keep her comfortable.
She s calmed down a bit but still breathing fast - she s cuddled up with her
Eddie - don t know what to do - the thought of putting her in the carrier
and taking her to the vets is awful. But does anyone know if there is a caring
Bunny vet at High Cliffs Vets Brantham Essex? Thanks.

I am sorry that Veronica is unwell and that your last experience with seeing a Vet was not good. I am not familiar with any of the Vets at the Practice you mention but I have cross posted this thread into Rabbit Chat as more people are likely to see it there.

I don't know that area of Essex at all or that practice - about an hour from you is William at Orchid vets in Brentwood - he is excellent, I know there's someone on here who lives in clemsford (I think) and has a good vet near there which is closer to you, wish I could be more help but I'm in east London, bordering Essex basically.

If in doubt though, I can't recommend William Lewis enough he is a fantastic exotic specialist imo :) just to say though.. He'll say it like it is (which I personally prefer)

Near Manningtree I think?

I recommend either Orchid Vets or Vets4Pets Braintree. Also Vets4Pets Maldon, which should be closer, I think. edit: sorry, I should clarify that I don't know the vet practice you mention.

Whereabouts are you? I use Orwell Vets. They have a branch in Stutton and three in Ipswich. See Charlotte, Harriet or Ama if you go.

Highcliff Vets Hadleigh branch is an RWAF silver practice, so they are obvs bunny friendly at the Hadleigh branch - don't know if that's do-able for you? Or if not, might be worth ringing the Brantham branch and seeing if they also have the same bunny friendly vets there.
