I know this sounds rather strange - but could you please give me some of your wonderful advice as always, about just how active bunnies should be. For the last few days, Lillian has been quite 'restful' She hasn't really wanted to go out and play. She's not one for running about - unlike zoom-zoom Henry who tears up and down the garden with amazing speed. She's eating well enough and plenty of poops. But she's not really being that active. She is going through a moult (as is Henry to be fair), but when the door is open to the garden, she's not showing huge interest. I've 'encouraged her' out into the garden the last 2 evenings so she gets outside. She hops up to the top of the garden, then just loafs about, nomming on any grass she can find. We have a bit of chasey chasey when it's bed time but other than that, she's just loafing around. Her eyes look fine, she is, as we speak, being subject to a severe full body groom from Henry. Strangely, over the last few days she has begun to actually accept strokes from us which is something she has never ever done. She sits and accepts nose rubs and long strokes. Now, I would normally be delighted at this, and I'm wondering if Lillian has, after almost one year of being with us, finally begun to show trust at us. But part of me is puzzled as it's really not like her. My O/H has said that she's smelt what she thinks are windy pops (for want of a better expression) which she thinks might be from Lillian. I've not been subject to them so I can't comment on that. Lillian isn't always open to some attention from us hoomans, and she still shows her back and hops away from us. She still seems very aprehensive/nervous and she pants and breathes heavily when she;s being stroked.
Due to the fact that I can't identify anything obvious and, having held her and had a gentle feel for anything obvious, I've checked for possible fly strike (which is completely negative), she's got appetite and no obvious sign of stasis, we've made a provisional appointment with the vet and have the small furry specialst (that's a specialist in small furries, not a small furry vet!) for next friday as a back up.
My bridge buns Ben & Georgina didn'tzoom round the garden - Ben was notorious for just being a shade lounger but he would wander round the garden at times. Georgina was more relaxed but also wandered round the garden, although they were hutch bunnies and spent time in their hutch together. Hillian are at present, house buns and have free roam of the kitchen/diner area.
Are your rabbits more active than Lillian or is this just normal bunny activity?
