Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rough cost of getting bloods done

Does anyone have any idea how much it costs? I have no idea and I’ve just had a big bill for the van so I’m trying to plan ahead so I don’t have any more shocks :lol:

It really does depend on what blood tests are being run, what type of analysis they need and whether they can be done in-house or need to be sent away to an external lab. Something like an e.cuniculi titre test is maybe £50-80, other biochemistry tests maybe £40-150 depending on how many and what they are, blood glucose pin ***** in-house maybe £5. etc. It’s so hard to say. My cats complete geriatric blood panel is sent to the lab and that’s usually about £160 for loads of parameters.

I had no idea, and was just reading to gain knowledge:thumb:  that it starred out pr1ck

Boos bloods were about £60 I think, not sure exactly what they entailed which I appreciate is not helpful. It was one of those lets check she is ok for GA ...yep - all values fine. I'd call & ask, I'm sure most vets appreciate planning, especially if it means they'll be paid in a timely fashion

Toby had two blood samples which where 120?? I wanna say? One for EC and something else and the other for a range of stuff. Not very helpful I'm aware :D

This

Bloods done 'In House' are generally no more than about £30.00 max. But if sent to a Lab and depending on what specific tests are requested the costs can go up significantly, Some Vet Labs charge about £100.00 just for an EC Titre test

I'd ask you Vet for a quote, he/she should provide that.
