  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Doughnuts at the vets having her first dental

Dropped her off this morning. She's allowed herbs now so was going to put parsley in the carrier to tempt her in. She saw me put the carrier on the floor and she was off lol

I've got to call at 2 and they'll let me know how she's doing and when I can pick her up. The house is empty without her. Trying not to worry as know she's in safe hands

Loads of vibes for the famous Calendar Girl

It takes over an hour to and from my specialist.. Got home half an hour later get a call come and get her! She's had bad spurs on both sides and one cutting her tongue but she still carried on eating. I was told when I got her she was the smallest rabbit they had ever had but also the greediest lol.
They syringe fed her and just got in. Put lots of herbs around her. Not interested. Went to take my coat off and she's in her litter tray munching on hay. So relieved. Thanks for all the wishes :)

What a wonderful recovery!

I wish all buns were as exemplary as young Doughnut :D

I'm at home today - you could have come over for a cuppa! Never mind- next time.

Glad the beautiful Doughnut is home safely and snaffling hay - she's a good wee lass isn't she.

Ah I'll let you know next time I'm taking her. So we can catch up

She's been eating solidly for 25 minutes. The herbs have all gone too. I think it must have hurt her a bit but not enough to stop eating as not she's acting like she's starving and never seen food before! Unbelievable

She seems totally fine but her eyes look different. Hard to explain how. The fur above them is sticking out like it's got wet and dried funny and she doesn't look as wide eyed as normal. Guess because of the G A and maybe her eyes got watery because having the back teeth done

She's wary of me. Sometimes I'm allowed to kiss her then not.I'm trying to leave her to it but just checking she's eating and toiletting every now and then. Bet she wishes I'd go to bed!

When Sonic had his dentals, they'd put a gel over his eyes to stop them drying out whilst he was under GA :) It looked like he'd been crying, and he was very upset that it ruined his good looks

Sounds like she's made a textbook recovery!!

Yes that's what it is but didn't realise. Hopefully she'll be looking her beautiful self tomorrow when she's cleaned it all off. She looks worse now than when she went in! But she must be more comfortable now

Hope you're both OK today xx
