  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Has anyone tried this? Any success? What is this baby cornstarch powder they use?

Having to wash Brody's bum on a regular basis then keep her in the kitchen while she dries. Am concerned about temperature changes putting her in/out/in/out so if this works, would be better.

So, off to the chemists tomorrow then to look for cornstarch powder. Attempting the dry wash should be , erm, interesting....

I've not seen cornstarch in chemists', but you will find cornflour on the shelves in your supermarket! (Try somewhere like Asda that do economy range cornflour for 28p a packet).

Cornflour/cornstarch are the same thing - very very fine powdered maize flour.

It's used by people who show rabbits here, all the time; dampen the rabbits' feet and work in cornflour until it is a paste. The rabbit will groom most of it out, and what is left, dries, & can be brushed out with a comb. It keeps the feet clean, and used as a dry powder in the coat, keeps the whites white!!

Oh thank you Sue, thats a brilliant tip, we will be stocking up with Cornflour, as I have several bunnies that I can not really wash (Angoras) easily, and the idea of using cornflour paste on their dirty paws sounds just the ticket! :D

Oh really? That sounds good I am having sitting in wee problems atm while trying to bond ;-((( My house smelles like a stables ;-(

many natural companies use non talcs in their dusting powers and have for years now. But the supermarket is the cheapest place to get hold of it.

I think i,ll be trying this one for cheeky , He,s pure white but has to get his tooshy washed occasionally and its not a pleasant job as he freaks out , then after its done he stamps his feet at me and then trys to mate with me  , probably because i,ve been touching around his "bits" whilst washing him , typical man.
