Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

How worrying for you, sending good surgery and recovery vibes. I have read of others buns having the same procedure with buns recovering and adapting well to one eye.

Poor lad  One of my previous Rabbits, Mr Bean, had to have an eye removed due to Glaucoma which had stopped responding to treatment. Mr Bean was about 9 when he had his op and he had other health problems too. Despite this he came through the op really well and made a rapid recovery. He coped perfectly well with just one eye, probably in part because he had been blind in the damaged eye for some time.

I hope that Pablo's surgery is as straight-forward as possible and that he will make a good recovery x

Best wishes for Pablo: Aboleth only has one eye (she had an abscess) and she's fine :) The face shape changes so headrubs become a bit different but the rabbit themself copes well :)

I am so sorry to hear this - you must be worried and I hope all goes well for his surgery.

I have had a rabbit have their eye removed before, and it was a total success - due to abscessation behind the eye.

I am also considering this for one of my rabbits right now, who has a similar problem to yours ... So I completely empathise with how you are feeling xx

Thanks for all your replies. I feel much more positive. The vet hasnt rang yet but no news is good news and I was told to ring at 3pm. Also if it was an abcess I think the vet mentioned doing a dental as obviously eye issues ect can be a sign of dental issues. He dosnt eat hay weve tried everything..fussy bun it is always avail different brands/ flavours ect. Does prefer fresh grass. He will be kept indoors now until spring post surgery, and im stocked up with critical care, infacol ect should his gut motility start wavering. Fingers crossed he comes out the other side in true pablo style xx

Guilt is normal, but very painful. Also, you didn't do anything amiss. It was his time, and I am sorry he had to leave you ...

Sending many hugs xx
