Poorly bunny in my bedroom.

Mrs. Bunnykins

Wise Old Thumper
Week three of giving intensive care to a friend's bunny who is suffering from EC. Her vets had wanted to put the bunny to sleep, and my friend hadn't got a clue what to do for the best. Well, in the past on separate occasions, I have managed to nurse two (EC) bunnies back to full health, so I offered to do my best for this little fella.

Slow but steady progress is being made, and my friend is over the moon with delight that someone (me) was willing to give her bunny a chance. The bunny is determined to live and has a fab appetite and is now trying to be mobile. His head is still tilted, but thank goodness he has stopped spinning and rolling.

I'm pretty tired as I tend to him every couple of hours, if not more, but seeing his day by day recovery is worth all the lost sleep.

Thank goodness I can still help bunnies in a small way.

I so remember him.
You are absolutely amazing with him and I'm so glad to read he's still progressing!

Sending vibes and hugs x

Well its not "helping in a small way" - its helping in a massive way. I'm so pleased your efforts are being rewarded & he is getting there

I'm starting to give up hope of any further recovery.

The little bunny has been on Panacur and Baytril for the past 28 days. He's stopping rolling and spinning, has a great appetite...but sadly as much as he is trying to stand, he keeps falling back down. His head hangs low and has the usual head tilt caused by EC. I massage his joints every couple of hours, pop eye drops in, clean poop from between his legs, but sadly he cannot drink from a bowl so I gently squeeze water into his mouth from saturated cotton wool balls. I don't have to syringe feed him his food, however I do leave it in front of him and also hold it above his head in the hope it will help strengthen his neck muscles.

His owner does not trust her own vet, and even though they keep supplying the meds we have been using, they do not seem to coming up with any more ideas about which if any, meds can help him further.

He's a very spirited bunny, but sadly in just over a week's time I am away caring for another friend's furry family. I'm hoping another bunny savvy lady will be able to take over from me in her house, as bunny's owner cannot get any time off work.

I'm tired, and losing hope....

Sorry to hear this :(

Could the vets discuss the case with a specialist somewhere? I'm sure you've considered this and may already be doing so.

Best of luck. You're doing such an amazing thing x
