Hi

I was checking Tigs over today and noticed on one of her eyes she has a cloudy spot.

Does anyone know what this could be / what it means?

Thanks

Does it move if you gently close and open her eye? Is her eye weaping? How old is she?

It could be an ulcer. The vet can tell by putting some dye in her eye and that stains the ulcer green. If so some drops will clear it up.

It could be a cateract. This can occur in older rabbits or are sometimes a symptom of EC.

It could be a bit of muck, they tend to get whiteish goo around them but with move and can be flushed out with water.

She is two years old. There is no goo and the eye isn't weeping. I haven't tried opening and closing her eye.

I'm taking Gandolf (formerly known as Teasle) tot he vets next week for his jabs so will take Tigs in then to be checked out.

If it was a cateract, what would that mean??

Cateracts can be associated with aging but two years is quite young so if it was then your vet would probably consider other things that might be causing it like EC. Generally cateracts aren't reversable, but if its only small area thats cloudy she probably has good vision still and would cope fine.

Its most likely an ulcer though, they are caused by a scratch to the eye such as by a piece of hay.
