  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Oliver has been to the vets a week ago and on 2nd May regarding his pee spotting and mild teeth grinding. He is z sludge bun but last vet visit no signs of sludge were felt or in in pee sample nor infection. We r trying him with glucosamine for 3-4 weeks to see if it helps along with his 3 weekly fluids. He is also in metacam. Vet thinks inflamed bladder. So while we wait to see if the glucosamine helps he does spend alot if time stI'll hiding away still and more in a siting upright position most of the time however he will loaf from time to time and lie really stretched out, legs out the back in a very relaxed way.

I know it sounds stupid but would he still do loaf positions if he was still in pain or lie fully stretched out ?? He will defo be getting his bloods done next if no improvement and perhaps the dreaded xray. It's just when u think I see him uncomfortable then he will loaf.

I stopped the ranitadine prior to his metacam but am gonna start back on that tonight just incase thd metacam is sore on his belly.
