  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fallen out of hutch

Izzy has a hutch that is on top of her run, I was getting her out today and I opened the closed off area and I didn't realise she was leaning on the door and she fell out and landed in the run. She got up and hopped off and is moving fine and has been eating fine since but I'm a bit worried that she might have hurt herself. It was about a 2ft fall, she seems fine and is happy for me to touch her legs and body. Should I get her checked over in the morning anyway?

If she is moving well, eating well & everything else is as it usually is I personally wouldn't go to the vet.

If she seems OK then I wouldn't worry. Rabbits are remarkably resilient :)

Two feet isn't far for a rabbit :)

Ok good to know, thank you everyone. Sorry I get a bit panicky about these things, I think I was more worried about it than she was

I'm a bit worried, I thought she wasn't moving around as she normally does but my Mum said she is moving around fine so I thought it was just me worrying, but today I noticed she has started half sliding down the ramp sideways rather than running down it like normal. She still goes quickly and she's still running around all over the place
