out of interest I'm looking around at rescue rabbits...

I've found a mini rex with an amputated leg...

slightly have fallen in love, and now I'm looking at care with an amputated leg..

I was looking as it helps me grieve for some strange reason; i haven't found one I liked or wanted. except this one is pulling on my heart strings ._. I've never found a rabbit that pulls on my heart strings ever. apparently I have a strange draw to rabbits with issues!

Hi, my bridge bun Bobby had an amputated front leg and he was fine didn't need any extra care. He liked to 'pose' with his remaining front paw placed on the leg of our coffee table  he used to go upstairs too with no problem. Some others may have had other experience but Bobby managed fine xx

Awwww it's lovely to that you want to help a Rabbit with Special Needs. However, as you have mentioned several times recently that money and space are an issue for you at the moment I am wondering if now may not be a good time to take on another Rabbit. I dont know if the Bunny you have seen is a hind leg amputee or a foreleg amputee. As you know, Rex Rabbits are very prone to sore hocks. A 3 legged Rex is likely to be even more prone to developing sore hocks/sore feet problems. This would obviously incur a significant additional financial outlay. The Rabbit would also need a large enclosure on one level to live in.

Maybe instead of looking at taking on another Rabbits at the moment perhaps you could contact a local Rescue and see if they need any help with caring for their Rabbits. Many Rescues welcome offers of help with cleaning out, socialising Rabbits, even Fostering Rabbits if you were able to do that.

Maybe in the future you will be in a better position to adopt another Rabbit. But do think carefully before rushing into it now :)

yes, sadly money is an issue. it always is. I am sadly a teenager with maybe £60 a month from walking a friends dog. I did figure I wouldn't have the resources to actually take him on, but I wanted to have a look anyway. he did tug on my heart strings however  space is somewhat an issue, but at the same time i do have about a 6ft x 80cm space in my room. finding a cage/hutch/non jumpable panels to fit it is the issue. I can't justify spending £200 on one hutch I saw when I could get a small shed for that

sadly, due to ages, nowhere will actually take me on for any sort of work. and nor could I. I am currently in a long and stressful battle as I am currently not able to go to school. I wouldn't be able to cope with anything like that which to say the least, is frustrating as I would love to help out at my local RSPCA.

I do just enjoy looking at the rabbits in all honesty though

but then I'm also trying to balance Luna - and that's been more difficult than imagined :?
