  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Evo is poorly

Rallybunny

Warren Veteran
We took him to the vets without even phoning, he went downhill so quickly. He has bloat, which we think was caused by him sneaking into the living room and eating a bit of a houseplant. He was fine when I got home at 3 o'clock (after eating the plant at lunchtime) and was lethargic, not moving or eating by 6. He is staying at the vet's tonight. Hope he's going to be okay.

Oh Dear Rally Bunny, we are so sorry to hear that Evo is poorly, and we are sending positive thoughts and Get well wishes for a beautiful bunny.

You must be so concerned and we sincerely hope you have better news tomorrow...keeping everything crossed for you, please keep us update.

Big hug for you Rallybunny

Evo is home! :D His tummy is still a a bit hard and sore, but he's poo'ed and eaten some timmy hay since he's been home, even though the vet nurse said he only did a couple of poos when he was there. He has to have hay and his Excel pellets for the next five days, and nothing else. His wee is bright flourescent yellow! I'm just glad he's home.

So if anyone has a Dracaena plant / corn palm, keep it out of reach of your bunnies, he only had 2 small half leaves and it caused all this!!!!

yay , glad he,s home , i love good news .

Gave him a kiss instead :D Thought his tum might be a bit sore for a cuddle! I'm just glad he's ok, it was very serious, the vet said, his tummy was completely full of gas, and he had to have a tube down his throat to release it. :( I can't beleive how little of the plant he had to make him this ill!
