Can you be registered with more than one vet?

So, I'm pretty fed up with my current vets over the whole VHD2 vaccine. They didn't get it last year and it seems, so far, that they have no plans to get it for this year!
Lasy year I decided to take Bungee to another vets (about half an hour from home) where she had her VHD2 jab and an amazing health check, from an extremely rabbit savy vet. I was so impressed with them.
Now I don't know what to do. Bungee is due her combined vaccination. I've had a reminder letter from my current vets, and now I don't know where to take her.
My current vets is literally just up the road, and I'm worried that if I change vets I won't be able to use the local emergency service. Can you be registered with two vets at the same time? Do you even have to be registered with a local vets to use the emergency service?
Sorry for the epic post!

Hi, I'm in Bedfordshire and in the same position. My current vets don't have and won't be getting the RHD2 vaccine due to 'lack of demand' so I took mine last week to another vets, about 25 mins drive away. They didn't need me to register completely with them and transfer all the medical history, they were just happy to have quite a 'light' registration so they could provide the vaccine. Its tempting to move though as they have an exotics specialist there and my current vet doesn't, although they are still very good.

That's what I did too. I've spoken to the other vets and they are happy to give Bungee both vaccines. I am also very tempted to move. Their rabbit specialist is fantastic. My current vets don't claim to be specialists and a couple of the vets are good, but they are just not that interested in rabbits :(

I'm registered with two & they both know about each other, while I ease my transition from one to another. I'd be tempted to travel further a field to find bunny expertise & a vet that takes RHD2 seriously. In your shoes I'd speak to the more savvy ones, explain your temptation to move care but ask what their set up for OOH is. In my experience a rabbit savvy vet saves lots of time & money, not to mention heartache.

Thanks joey&boo I'll do that.
Just looked at your etsy shop. Your products are fab. I love the packaging. Saw you in Bunny Mad Magazine :)

I totally agree. It gets far too complicated when you're with two different vets and your bunnies have ongoing issues. Even if you used the other vet for out of hours stuff, you'd still want the details passed on to the usual vet afterwards, I'd have thought.

Ideally I'd like to change to the other vets. They are further away, but far more rabbit savy. I'm just worried about how OOH would work. Obviously I'd like to be able to take Bungee to the nearest emergency vets I could if I needed to, but I didn't know if they would only treat you if you were registered with a local vets. I might give them a ring.

I'd personally register at the more specialist vets.
My girls are registered at 4 vets now.... one specialist which I use for everything now.
One near my mums incase they need to be seen while she cares for them.
The other two I wasn't with for long as I don't like their service.

Being registered with another vet shouldn't effect your emergency OOH treatment. At the end of the day, they offer out of hours to anyone who might need it.

Thank you. That's kind of what I thought. I think I'll book Bungee in this week to the Bunny savy vet :)

The Bunny savvy vets currently have no Combined vaccine! Apparently there is a Nationwide shortage. Just rung my current vets and they have some, so booked in on Saturday. They are buying in big bottles, as they can't get the single vials, and are doing a Bunny Clinic on Saturday morning! Still no plans for them to get the RHD2 vaccine in, as they are still saying that it's not licenced? Is that right?

There are now two licensed vaccines for RHD2 in the UK - Santa kindly posted this on the RHD2 thread:

Filavac have announced today that they have received a UK licence and that the vaccine should therefore now be available via normal suppliers without the need for a SIC It's not yet on the VMD list but hopefully that will get refreshed shortly with the details. Great news!!

Sometimes the info takes a bit of time for vets to catch up with

yes its your preference I would maybe register with rabbit savvy, and if there are any emergencies go to your old one, they day I lost mabel we went to an emergency pet A&E one, glad we did as we would of lost her in the car o journey to the one our vets has, as the out of hours one, its a long way to go on motorway, they didn't mind and I know she didn't suffer as they saw her straight away, even though she had to go, I know we did right for her, she was registered at 3 vets if you include out hours one which is for our vets then that's 4
