Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Maisy doesn't seem right after hutch move

Jayniekinns

Young Bun
Hey,
I moved Maisy into her new house and run yesterday and she was fine, seemed fine this morning as well. I want out and when I came back shewas laid on her side (but there what some are behind her where she was paid and she is littertrained) so I thought she had flopped the she started to like try and roll on to her shoulders. So my partner went into the run to see if she was okay, she seemed to have a shaky back leg for a moment and he managed to cuddle her (which is unlike Maisy), after a moment he tried to pick her up and she ran off (that's more Maisy like).
Since then she has come back out her hutchand is say in the corner of her run and won't eat anything. Normally she would snatch any food given to her especially fresh veg but she won't touch it.
Any ideas please?

Sounds as though she may have injured herself and is now in pain. Or if she is actually unsteady on her feet/has some limb weakness this could point to a neurological problem. But it's impossible to say for certain what is wrong. If she is not eating then really you need to contact the out-of-hours Vet ASAP.

Good luck x

I agree with what Jane said, if she's not eating that's a big concern in itself so please contact a vet as soon as possible. I hope she feels better soon

Took her to the vets and he said she had a blockage as stomach was full but he couldn't feel alot of feaces. Gave her pain relief and something to make her poop and I've got some to give her over next few days.
Got her home and you can tell the pain relief kicked in, she's eaten all the good stuff :)

I am glad that you got her to the Vet and that she is now feeling a bit better. Hopefully she will pass some poo in a few hours x

That's good that she is now eating, I hope it continues.

I don't have any clue about the odd movements but when we moved 3 of our rabbits to new accommodation, one of them wasn't at all happy. She stopped eating, was very inactive and we found her sat in a puddle of wee. Lots of medication later (primarily gut medicine) she was back to normal within a day or two and has had no more episodes since. Good luck x

I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier to answer your post :)

I'm glad you've seen the vet and hopefully things will right themselves over the next few days. Stress can cause all sorts of issues with rabbits.
