  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Administering Baytril

Any hints/tips?

Chloe won't take it straight from the syringe nor will she eat pellets with it on

She won't eat fruit so I can't even put it in mashed banana

I used to dab the baytril on mint leaves and hand feed stem first.......but the time they reached the leaves they were too busy chomping and it would go straight in haha

Throw a towel over her, kneel with her between legs so she can't reverse, find her mouth, syringe baytril in (mix with Ellas Kitchen carrot flavour to make it less horrid), apologise lots and let her go.

Oh we've had this drama! Foxy absolutely despises the stuff, as so I and no matter what I try, it ain't going in.
Very smart bunny, and knows, just knows.
I ended up making carrot nibbles, by finely slicing carrots, dropping little bits of baytril ontop and then sandwiching it with another carrot slice. Kind of worked, until she realised and spat the bits out, giving me the look of 'what they hell did you do to my favourite treat' lol

Why can't they make it taste better!!
