Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

As some of you may know my bunny "cheeky" has pasturella , he is on 5ml of baytril once a day to keep it under control , he also has bad back teeth and has to get his spurs done . Does anyone know anything else I can do for cheeky to keep him as healthy as poss such as any foods or natural things I can give him . He is 5 and a half and I want to keep him as healthy as possible . The vet said that the pasturella appears to just be in his sinus area and it isn,t affecting his organs but it breaks my heart when he gets a bad turn and seems down . Any advice would be greatly appreciated . I checked with the vet that he has a good quality of life and the vet said he,s never seen a more contented , happy little bunny. :p

Have you tried boosting his immune system by adding one drop of ECHINCACEA herbal extract to his drinking water....it has been very successful for our bunnies with this condition in the past.

You can buy Echnicacea from most health shops.
We give one drop a day(one drop to a bottle full of water) for a week, every three weeks or so, but no more.

i,ve got that in the house but I wasn,t sure if it would be ok for bunnies , will it interfere with the baytril ????

HI Gina...I use Echnicacea along side Baytril and have not found any problems, if anything it just enhances the bunnies antibodies and helps kick infections quicker.
I also take Echnicacea myself along side antibiotics, and I have survived and recovered quicker when I have combined the conventional and no conventional cures!!.
As long as it is a fairly low dose (as stated above, I cannot see any problems.
I have been using it regularly for many years now for bunnies, and had nothing but good results to date.
Good luck and hope it helps :D

I swear by Echnicacea. :D

I use it in a tincture form diluted in a tiny bit of water or milk (for human's!) Its brillant for colds, flu etc.

I've never had no need to use it on the bun's but I'm sure it will do just as good a job as it does on human's. :)
