Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbits hind legs

My darling white rabbit, appears to be rather messy when going to the toilet.

She regular has brown patches on the inside of her hind legs where they have come in to contact with droppings.

She has been known to suffer from runny poos so her diet is watched.

Does anyone know the best way to clean them? She's a docile rabbit most of the time, but don't know how she would be about a bath!

I think Adele could help you out there, she's a wealth of knowledge, as are the rest of the gang. I think I recall Adele mentioning some where on another post about baby wipes.... hope that helps, I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. :D

Hi, hope I can help as I have several rescue rabbits that get this problem. I hold the bunny firmly with my hand against her chest, pointing away from me. Then I sit her on the edge of the sink and gently pour luke warm water from a jug between the bunnies back legs. This washes away any excess poo and then softens any stuck on bits that can then be removed with your fingers. You can then dab her dry on a soft towl. You can also use a wet flannel or baby wipes to clean the area. Depends how dirty the bunny is.

Thanks

Thanks for this.

There never seems to be any droppings stuck to her, just watery poo coloured markings.

Not sure if this makes sense!
