  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have no idea but I would think you would have seen your rabbit display some sort of pain if he had a stone and they would come out in the urine not poos.

Could the object have got stuck to his poops while he was running around the floor, so maybe he didn't pass it. Since he is suddenly filthy it's better to go and see a vet to rule out anything. Is he happy or quiet? Did he have anything out of the ordinary for his diet, more veg or something new. That could be a reason for the squishy poos that probably smell delightful!

cpayne has given you excellent advice :D

If you suspect a kidney stone it could have caused a lot of pain and a vet should take a look :D

There's some good info here:

Its not rock hard but firm like their normal poos can be. So Canbe broken apart like with healthy poo . It was separate from the squishys. He seems ok but I know they can hide pain well.

If it was a stone it'd be passed out via his urethra/penis. From what you have posted it seems you are saying he passed it with his poo ?

It sounds to me like it could've been passed along with his poos, as you say it can be broken apart.

Hopefully he's OK and not in any pain :)

He is currently having bloods done and the thing he passed is being looked at. Vet isn't quite sure what it is yet . They are going to send him home with pro biotics and gut stimulant as his tummy has slowed down a bit so they want to prevent stasis. He thumped ALOT on the scales . Not happy about being prodded!

I dont blame him ! I hope that the Vet can identify the 'thing' and that the bloods will all be OK xx

It was separate from his poos in the middle of the floor so not sure where he passed it from. So confusing

I'm glad he still has attitude :D

I hope all goes well - blood is quite difficult to get from a rabbit!

Good luck xx

My specialist is always happy if Doughnut thumps as means she's still well enough to be stroppy!

Good luck, hope you find out what it is.

Charlie had to be rushed back to the vet today. He refused breakfast and has been quiet. He nibbled a bit once I'd given him ranatidin or whatever it's called. I also gave him some fibreplex. I felt his tummy and he seemed in pain so took him to be checked. His tummy is full but he is in pain. She thinks it's due to his suspeced kidney problems despite normal tests at this stage. He was given an injection of pain relief . One that won't damage kidneys further. I've been given critical care to feed him. He's quite depressed and refused food when we got home. Really worried. Whatever is wrong seems to be progressing . I hope he makes it overnight
