EFSA study shows Red palm oil can cause cancer

how many of you give your rabbit Sunshine factor (aka Red Palm oil) from Dr. Harrison diet? My rabbit savvy vet recommends this product as it's for small animals. Just recently, EFSA said it can cause cancer. I wonder what you people take is.

The product that I use is called Nutiva, natural-habitats.com, "organic red palm oil reveals antioxidant vitamin A &E", "Grows on small organic family farms, where rainforests and orangutan habitats are unharmed", this is the exact product from Dr. Harrison's website. (he re-brand the label)

Processed or refined anything is generally bad for animals and people, and rabbits really don't need supplements of any kind [including pellets]. All they need is lots of hay, a bit if veg, and a lot of love ☺️

Not sure how I feel. Apparently everything these days is meant to cause cancer.
Even if you do everything "right" people and animals still get cancer.

It's usually the microparticulates that result from, in this case, the heating of the fruit to extract the oil that cause cancer: same as burnt toast, diesel fumes, barbecues... I googled the product and only found it as a bird supplement?

in the bottle, it says for small animals. Although dr. harrison is mostly a bird specialist

I didn't know that!

Wasn't aware of the palm oil being a health issue either! I have heard of parrot owners giving red palm oil to their parrots - as far as I knew it's supposed to be really healthy, palm nuts are also really good to give to parrots...I guess it's not as straightforward as that though. I'll have to do some reading on that...

Yes you are right. I remember this from years back -

Regarding the palm oil - yes dp people get cancer for all sorts of reasons, but the palm oil factor is particularly relevant, especially in folk who already have cancer.
