Hey it's been a while since I've been on here, not since we lost pepper in 2015.
We lost another bunny (Dora) today.
I can't help but think its all my fault.
This post probably is not in the right place as there is no helping her now as she is sadly gone...
Anyway, Dora had stopped eating today. So we took her to the vets to get checked, she seemed sore before we went to the vets (crunching teeth, reluctant to lie down) when I felt her tummy it seemed hard.
The vet agreed that her stomach felt hard and she was admitted for X-rays. They had to use a little gas so that she would lie still. She seemed to have a mass with gas in it but they could not distinguish what the mass was.
She remained hospitalised with the view to do an exploratory laparotomy. During her short stay her temperature dropped and heat mats etc were implemented to try bring her temperature up. Unfortunately Dora got worse, the vet tried to resuscitate her etc but she's gone
I expected to go and get the usual gut stasis meds and come home with her.
She had also not eaten dinner on Friday but ate breakfast on Saturday & seemed her usual self, maybe if I took her on Saturday she would still be here...
Sorry for the long irrelevant post but I'm just wondering what that mass could have been to make her go downhill quite so fast. Do rabbits get gastric torsions like dogs ?
