Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Mushy poops

Tonight Hiro has had some really dodgy looking poops. I've found two, biggish mushy piles and they smell awful too. We think that he has been over indulging with the greens that we have left out for Sy.
What do I need to do??

Just make sure he only eats hay and maybe a few pellets, but no greens until he is back to normal. xx

Thank you!
Never had it with any of my buns before. I was starting to panic. He just did another one and he circled back round to eat it off the carpet. Yummy!

Morning Roxy!

Well he didn't think it was dodgy then!

I hope he settles down - over indulgence can cause that and it usually clears up within 12 hours or so ..

Could they be excess Cecal matter? I agree that you should give him only hay and make sure he is staying hydrated as you monitor the situation.

He's had hay only today and they seem a little better already :)
I feel very guilty giving all the greens to Sy and none to Hiro. He looks so confused!
