  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit's -- ugh always something to worry about

Remember Robin had a little wet eyes.
Barely anything but I noticed , well he's been checked over by two vets.
One was a general all over health check when he had his microchip and the second time when he had the Rhdv2 injection and both said his teeth a beautiful.

Well he's had on and off since and it's never gotten any worst.
But I noticed a little wet nose, I've thought it's been wet before but seeing has he always has its nose stuck into something in the garden i couldnt be sure.

Today while fussing him I had a little feel and it's damp and cold.
It's not thick or constant , my partner thinks I'm looking for problems and blaming my health anxiety :(

In himself he's happy and healthy, eats none stop , he drinks plenty and does lots of poos.

They are a little dark but he has alot of grass and carrot tops.
Still eats lots of hay but makes the most of his time in the garden

Could he have just had a drink or eaten something wet? Or he might have just had a wash?

I'm not sure it's driving me mad. His nose is damp but not runny.
He gets a tiny bit it crusty fur in the corners of both eyes but again never gets any worst.
I was wondering if he gets that because he has the second eyelids on show all the time?

Spoke to my vet and he said keep an eye on him as it's not gotten any worse it's most likely to be a bit of a allergy.

When I've ran out of sawdust I will swap to something else and see if it's that

Both my two outdoor buns often have 'wet' noses, just around the normal moist bit. I often chide them for trying to pretend to be dogs  In possibly-related news, they also both have drinking 'sessions', where their head's in the water bowl for minutes, or they're back and forward to it, rather than little and often. Neither's ever had anything snuffles-like, although both have sneezed occasionally, but that's always been hay-dust-up-nose type circumstances. I think they run more in the cold: mine certainly does! If there's nothing really untoward, keep an eye on it and seek attention if it does get worse :)

That's the thing it's never better or worse so it might just be normal for him.
But I'm a natural worrier
