  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

recently my rabbit has been drinking loads of water ,peeing cloudy and had loads of mini wet poops clumped together on the floor.

What is wrong?

A uti might be a possibility. Have you seen the vet yet? If not I'd get that sorted as soon as possible. If you need a recommendation for a rabbit savvy vet then let us know where you are located and hopefully someone can help :)

As bisc has said, a UTI is possible which is a urinary tract infection which will make the urine smell, cause excessive urination, increase in drinking etc.
I'd recommend a health check with a rabbit savvy vet to give a diagnosis and treatment.

The clumped, small wet faeces isn't caecatrophs are they?

Is he still eating his hay and pellets? Is he an indoor or outdoor bunny?

Excess cecals generally means a disruption to their gut flora/diet/guts. The cecals are what the bunny usually eats (the smelly black poo) and if they are leaving this poo it means something isn't quite right. It could be too much rich food (obviously not a problem since he doesn't eat greens) or not enough fibre. It could also be a problem that's occurring because of illness. If he is poorly from a UTI or kidney problems then this could be causing the excess cecals. Definitely best to get him to a vet asap. If I were you, I'd also try to get a wee sample to take to your vet.
