Rabbit savvy vet needed in Bedfordshire

RosemaryG

Warren Scout
Hi all

This is in relation to Tallulah's thread currently running in health. Our vet is considering a referral tomorrow to Davies Veterinary Specialists based in Higham Gobion - I've no knowledge or experience of this practice does anyone else? Is there anywhere else in Bedfordshire you would recommend, they seem to be in short supply :-(

thanks

Davies Vets are amazing BUT I have no knowledge of them as far as their bunny experience goes. Two of my dogs were referred there as was my brother's dog. I would suggest a referral to Simon Maddock at the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton. Not specifically a referral practice like Davies Vets are but extremely bunny-savvy (and a heck of a lot cheaper! Davies Vets will break the bank ).

You could try asking the RWA they have a vet list and might record who specialises in what :)

Also, try to get hold of Hugo's There (Liz at Rainbow Rabbits). She has an excellent bunny vet in Leighton Buzzard who may be able to help. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of it.

Where exactly are you based?

Thanks, I did remember one being in Leighton Buzzard but couldn't remember the name or who recommended it - I'll try and get hold of Liz.

We're in Luton, Bedfordshire, so can also go into Hertfordshire quite easily.

Thanks for the recommendation in Northampton, I'll follow that one up tomorrow as well

I've messaged Liz on Facebobs to ask which vets she uses. Not sure how often she goes on there but if I get a reply I'll let you know.

Either Simon or Kim Maddock at The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic are recommended. It's only a 2 man clinic but, as their name suggests, they only treat cats and rabbits, as well as guinea pigs. They are excellent bunny vets. Their telephone number is 01604 478888. Unfortunately, they use Vets Now as their out of hours service though, but they have taken my bunnies home with them before when they've needed intensive overnight care.

ETA - I know Liz's vet is walking distance from where she lives - so I think it might be Ark House Vets.

Go down to Nine Lives in Redbourn, just down the M1 :) Emily there is fab!

Liz has just got back to me and says ditto to this - Nine Lives :thumb:. If you decide on Ark House then you 100% need Cassia. The only other decent bunny vets there are only locums so not often there.
