  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worming

Bunny Magoo

Hi. Quick question - do you worm your rabbits? We have house bunnies and currently don't worm them. However we are moving to a house where they'll have supervised and restricted access to our garden. Should I worm them?

Do you mean worming for intestinal worms or as a means of controlling EC ?

I do not routinely worm my Rabbits for intestinal worms. With regards to EC control I give all new intakes a one off 28 day course of Panacur. I do not treat them again unless clinical symptoms of EC were to develop or if advised to do so by my Vet :)

Thanks Jane. Sorry I should have been more specific, I was referring to EC.

We've had Mr Magoo from 15 weeks old and Daisy was a rescue bunny. I haven't personally given them Panacur , should I now?

Sorry for the ignorance but I'm still on the life learning course of how to best care for your bunny!

If they have never had a course of Panacur then I would do a one off 28 day course. But that is an unqualified opinion xx
