Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi there,

Over the summer my rabbit was diagnosed with Sebaceous Adenitis.

I'm now looking to take her to an experienced veterinarian with a passion for rabbits for follow up check-ups in the London area.

The general vet I've been with so far has been great for annual vaccinations.

But now with this rare and difficult condition I'd like to give my bunny the most experienced and best care with someone who really understands a rabbit's ways...

Would be great to have anyone's input...! Thanks in advance!!!

What area of London are you in?

Thank you all - I should've mentioned that the Beaumont hospital is where my rabbit was diagnosed in the first place but they don't have a specialist who studies rabbits...

This is the type of expert I'm after... Are there really none in London area? How far out should one travel to find one?

That's weird, I'd have thought they'd be by far the most specialist place in the area! There are a couple of their specialists named in this recent press release about rabbits:

Out towards the East, there's Martin Lawton in Harold Hill, he does all sorts of exotics including rabbits, or a bit further to William Lewis at Vets4Pets Maldon (he's also at the Braintree branch but Maldon would be easier from E London).

How far are you able to travel? I use a specialist vet but it's a bit of a way to travel.

Hi MightMax,

I could possibly travel somewhere just outside M25 but probably not much further away to stress my bun out... I don't have experience of taking her anywhere too far...
