  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit Savvy Vet needed in/near Chester

Hello, I use Cranmore Vets, they're located between Chester and Ellesmere Port and ask for Robin Marsland (he's one of the vets there who has his own rabbits).

Here's a link to their website http://cranmorevets.vpweb.co.uk/ and I found them via Frances Harcourt Brown's website https://www.harcourt-brown.co.uk/vetfinder/copy_of_county-or-city/England

Please note I haven't had to use the vet for anything other than vaccinations, health checks and nail clipping so can't comment on how they can deal with more complex cases.

Have you considered asking your vet to liaise with Molly Varga? Although she's not as close to Chester as she used to be, you may find one of her clinics - St Helen's within reasonable distance? http://mollyvargavet.co.uk/clinics/

Good luck, I hope you're able to find a vet who can help you x

Cranmore for me too with lots of complex stuff. Robin is great and a bunny -owner himself.

OOH is covered by Chestergates referral hospital (same site). I wholeheartedly recommend them too.

Good luck.

Birch heath vets in Tarporley. I was referred there a year ago by my vets in heswall and I've stayed there since. They're totally brilliant.

I just realised that I ended up at Cranmore thanks to you SJH (you recommended them when I ran a 'savvy vet in Chester' previously) - Robin's been lovely with my rabbits and asks all of the right questions, so thank you :D
