Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I was just clearing out Snow Clouds cage and I saw what looked like a small maggot!!
I checked Snow Cloud instantly, he's completely clean, well groomed and still acting like his normal playful self. He's up to date with all his vaccinations and he isn't due anymore fly strike spray until 7th August.
Should I be panicking, or should I just keep an eye on him?

Keep a close eye - if I remember correctly he's indoors? You may find you need to clean the cage/litter trays more often as the hot weather is really setting in. If you can, put up fly screens etc to prevent them getting into the house.

Check him three times a day - as you've seen maggots check him every 1-2 hours for the nest 24hrs if he's generally OK to be picked up etc.. Fly strike sets in within a few hours so you'll know quickly if there is an issue at all.

Yes that's right, he's an indoor rabbit, he only uses his cage when he needs the toilet or to eat and sleep in.

I will definitely keep a close eye on him and look at getting fly guards in the home.

He still seams okay currently :)

We don't normally recommend using flstrike spray because of the chemicals in it. Just keep him and his cage clean and you shouldn't have a problem.

Ive had that before in indoor trays, the flies get in an youve just got to make sure the litter is changed daily or more, indoors it is much warmer and the flies/maggots love it.

I am againast flystrike too, wont ever ever use it again after a old bun had a bad reaction
