Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Giving oral medication with treat/training.

One way of giving oral medication without force in a positive way in step by step instructions..

Thought might be useful for others.

I use Carrot or Parnsip Babyfood, Ellas Kitchen, or any home made carrot/parsnip/banana smooth consistency ( if need add a little water) and at first I would give it as a treat without a syringe, Crash loves it and comes running for his treat!

Gradually moved it to a syringe and he learned to take it from the syringe, licking/nomming it as slowly squirt it out..

Its a really good way to give medication without stress and having to force it, easy and positive. It may not work for a bun refusing all food but, if they will accept a yummy treat its worth trying to keep stress low while sick.

Step 1:

Youll need the syringe the measure the medicine. A larger one that will fit the medicine in and the treat mixture (not all you can do this a few times). A small cup of egg cup to mix it in. A little water if it needs to be a little runnier to get in the syringe.

Put a good dollop of the treat in the cup/eggcup and a few drops of water if you need it.

Step 2:

Measure the correct amount of medicine you need then add it to the mixture and mix

Step 3:

Use the clean bigger syringe, you might want to add a tiny bit of fresh mixture on the tip just to show them what it is and they start licking

Step 4:

Show the bun the treat and very patiently and slowly once it starts to lick it off squeeze it out into its mouth.. If you need to refill go ahead, Ive had Crash take 4 and want more more more

I used this so often now he comes running for his treat, you could if you dont already have a bun on medicine use this to train them incase it ever comes up and they get sick (without medicine!)

For me its the best thing i ever did and now I dont have to stress and worry about giving him medicine, In the past ive struggled and the buns have gotten frustrated, lashed out, stressed out, lose trust in me.

Hope this is helpful to someone.
