New Agouti Nethie

As per my 'Should I, Shouldn't I' thread I have just (this morning) taken on a young male Agouti Nethie. He is ever so cute but going through a mega moult so looking a bit raggedy!

Classic (sad) story, 2 males bought, one male then promptly gave birth. Babies & mum sold at some point & dad left by himself. Kids lost interest, dogs paid more attention to him than the family did ("he loves the dogs" - he looked petrified when they barked).

On the plus side his hutch was nice and clean and kept well, he looks healthy based on a very brief check, he's currently on muesli which I will slowly switch to pellets. Since he's been home (about 30 mins) he's been out for a good explore and a drink of water but he is certainly liking the carrier. I can see I'm going to have to be patient with resocialising him, poor boy!

He will be booked into the vets for his Vacc's (and a good nail trim, I got a good scratch as a thank you for picking him up to put him in the carrier) next Saturday at which point I will also be looking to book his neuter.

Now I just need to come up with a suitable regal name for him! Photos to follow later.

I remember getting my bridge bun, Nessarose, and being horrified as her ex-owner got her yorkie to jump in Nessa's hutch with her to show 'what good friends they are'. Nessa, too, was cowering. What are people thinking?

Hope he settles well. I suggest Zeus, because what's more regal than the Greek God of Gods?

So pleased that he's found a good home with you, hope he settles in well and looking forward to pics.

How's this for a moult! I actually think he will be a chocolate colour underneath. I do think he needs to gain some weight.

He also needs to learn not to bite my toes!

A very impressive moult indeed !! He's lovely

He's actually a Lynx Nethie, rather than an Agouti :)

Nicholas says hiiii :) thanks Jacks-Jane, looking at his colouring this afternoon I knew I had it wrong! I am going to have to get somewhere near him soon so I can help him comb his moult out - there's a heck of a lot of fur to go!

In good news - we have had both poops (little golden ones) and mini binkies (which I think broke my heart into tiny pieces!) this afternoon. He is settling in well so far.

Look forward to hearing how Nicolas weevils his way into your heart and life

He's very handsome and will be even more so after he's finished his moult. Sounds like he's wheedled his way into your heart already!
