Alpha Buck
As per my 'Should I, Shouldn't I' thread I have just (this morning) taken on a young male Agouti Nethie. He is ever so cute but going through a mega moult so looking a bit raggedy!
Classic (sad) story, 2 males bought, one male then promptly gave birth. Babies & mum sold at some point & dad left by himself. Kids lost interest, dogs paid more attention to him than the family did ("he loves the dogs" - he looked petrified when they barked).
On the plus side his hutch was nice and clean and kept well, he looks healthy based on a very brief check, he's currently on muesli which I will slowly switch to pellets. Since he's been home (about 30 mins) he's been out for a good explore and a drink of water but he is certainly liking the carrier. I can see I'm going to have to be patient with resocialising him, poor boy!
He will be booked into the vets for his Vacc's (and a good nail trim, I got a good scratch as a thank you for picking him up to put him in the carrier) next Saturday at which point I will also be looking to book his neuter.
Now I just need to come up with a suitable regal name for him! Photos to follow later.
