Another rabbit??

Pippin'sMum

Alpha Buck
Hi all, got a dilemma I hope you can help me with. As I've put on here before, I have two bonded pairs in extensive runs in the garden, they are very happy with each other. I help out at our local rescue on a Saturday morning, cleaning out and general help (the rescue has around 30 bunnies at the moment). There is a bunny there at the moment, I think a French Lop or cross, agouti in colour (my favourite) a neutered boy, quite young I think, and he is the most 'humanised' rabbit I have ever met. He came out of his cage for a run round while I cleaned out, and he sat with his front feet on my knee while I was working. He is very happy to be stroked and loved, and did a lap round my feet when I came back to him after getting fresh food and water. I'm now thinking of getting him as a houserabbit. My problem is that I still work full time, leaving home before 5 in the morning and getting home around 2.30pm, and obviously have the other 4 to care for, so he won't get my full attention when I'm home. Also, would he be happier with another rabbit rather than me? There are single does at the rescue, but they don't bond all rabbits as people do take singles for bonding to their own. I think I know the answer, but I just think he might be happier with me than at the rescue. What shall I do??:?

Run for the hills?

See him bonded with a female at the rescue. Perhaps make a donation to facilitate this.

Bring him, and whichever female he fancies, home with you.

Because you know you love him...

Thank you happybun, but I can't have two in the house! Please don't pile on the pressure or I'll have rabbits everywhere! lol
No seriously, one of the other volunteers suggested the same, but I can't have two in the house.

that's fair. I had four in the house and now i'm renovating the house. I have three buns remaining and they live outside. had to be done.
:)

It's a long time for him to be on his own
I thought about that tonibun, but both my does are feisty and territorial, so I don't think that's going to work. I ended up with 4 originally because someone gave me a doe who was neglected and I tried to fit her in with my pair, but it didn't work so I had to get her a friend. Also I don't want to break any bonds between my pairs.

Me and my husband work full time and we have 4 boys.
I insisted on keeping them as house rabbits, so whenever we are home they will have our full attention.
One of my boys loves stalking my husband. He follows him everywhere and will always look for a spot where he can chill while still having my husband in sight.
To be honest, most of the time, they enjoy the company of each other and chill together rather than us. They much rather us to leave them at peace most of the time, with occasional head rubs and treats.
Having said that, it is more of a concern of the expenditure for an addition to the fluffy family and cleaning. I am constantly cleaning as a rabbit poops approx. 300 times a day, you can work out the maths of 4 rabbits.

Having them around is a blast and my greatest joy. If you have a connection with the little boy at rescue and you think you are just as committed as with all others that are already in the family. I would say go for it.
As long as he gets along well with your current fluffy babies. They will have a good time and so would you just by watching them cuddling, grooming each other, chasing after the same hay cookie together.

we also have a chinchilla, and apparently they enjoy each other's company.
