  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Having a problem with my bunny

I don't really no if it's normal for a rabbit to do this but my rabbit isn't drinking much and he's not eating his pellets he is only eating dandelion leaves and a bit of hay but he seems to do it this time every year but I get my self all worried every time my vet told me last year it's nothing to worry about but I do he's quite old I don't no the exact age as he was rescued but the vet said he's about 6 to 7 years old if anyone could help me that would me great thanks

It's not possible to say if this episode is anything to worry about or not. The only way to find out is to have your Rabbit thoroughly examined by a Vet.

If your Rabbit usually has a water bottle I would offer your Rabbit water from a bowl as he may drink from that. It is very important to seek Veterinary attention promptly if a Rabbit is hardly eating and not drinking.
