Joey got chased by a cat last night:(

joey&boo

Wise Old Thumper
Poor boy was terrified :( I'd only popped in the house to carry Mouse through (she won't come in on her own). I saw a blur out of the corner of my eye, initially thinking it was Joey & Mouse running til my stupid brain registered Mouse was with me. In the seconds it took OH to run outside Joey had already done 2 really fast circuits of the garden, hotly pursued by a black cat. Joe managed to bolt in through the back door but unfortunately at exactly the same time as OH was wildly running out, thus scaring him even more. Poor little soldier found the smallest crack to hide in & we couldn't find him in the house for 10 minutes.

I'm not saying I wasn't aware of the risks of free ranging because I was, but I completely underestimated how quick things can happen. I've always left them to pop in the house for a quick wee, to make a drink, pick up charged lap top, whatever. Not any more.

So my poor little poppets are going to have even less garden time now :( No free ranging except when OH is home too.

Poor little boy, but I am sure he'll be ok again soon. Just give him loads and loads of treats he'll soon forget. But sounds awful for all of you. Fluffy and Bunbuns are sending him a big hug.

thank bunbuns & fluffy, Joey appreciates the big hugs. He is fine now although was really unsettled for a few hours after. it took lots of girl bunny cuddles & hand fed forage to bring him round :)

yeah I bet, did Boo try to make him feel better, or was she more focused on herself again

i suspect she has rabbit autism rather than straightforwardly selfish / mean:lol:. She has never made eye contact with us which i find weird, most of my bunnies do that a lot

Yeah that's odd. Did you get her when she was already a bit older. I wonder if she may have been hurt in the past before she came to you. Fluffy is still struggling with anyone coming close to him like he remembers being hit or so cause he hates any hand coming close. Unless it has food in it loll

We don't know her real age as she was found "wandering". She is really friendly though, she demands fusses alot & is very free with kisses / licks. Super confident but no social awareness :) Well I say no social awareness, since I'm not a rabbit i probably can't judge. Poor Fluffy - my other 2 are more like that, wary but getting there.

maybe it's just her way, she may be better in the rabbit world, but for us humans we prefer to be looked at lol. that said, didn't you say she didn't see that well, so maybe she doesn't know where your eyes are. but she is so beautiful, so no doubt she gets away with being her selfish or weird self at times.
yeah I have no idea what may have happened to our Fluffy, I know when he first came here he was very concerned about anyone even coming close, like hunching up all scared. he didn't want to be touched or anything. he loves his cuddles, you can tell cause when he forgets he's suppose to be scared he really is all relaxed and does the teeth purring etc, even closes his eyes slightly and keeps putting his nose under your hands to get more. then suddenly he realises it's a hand on him or so, and storms off. Though he is getting a lot better. I just love the fact he's relaxed enough that he sleeps completely stretched out on his side all day with his eyes proper closed. Bunbuns never closes her, he always does when he sleeps, I guess he knows he's save now.
I think with rescued ones we just never know what happened to them before, so maybe mouse just loves you, but doesn't know how to socialise the human way. plus she is a princess don't forget, and you're her help.

that is so joey  gets really in to his cuddles until he realises what he is doing.

Joey was rescued as a kit from the RSPCA, spent 15 months in a cage with his brother who bit his nose! Boo is an unknown (as we know). i'd love to hear Mouse's full story. I know she first went in to rescue as her owner died suddenly & the second time she went in to rescue was because her owners were moving house to somewhere rabbits weren't allowed. She has had far too much instability ...that's the reason her story stole my heart.

haha yeah it's funny. maybe it's a male rabbit thing... probably not. ;)
yeah definitely sounds like Mouse has had a lot happen in her little life. She'll come out stronger for it in the end, no doubt, especially as she know has you and she knows she's loved. I predict she'll end up as a right little cuddle bunny when she's realised she's not going anywhere again
