  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Mine had their first journeys in the car on friday when going to get neutered. I just offered nice hay beds with a few veggies in their carriers. Took it slow, kept windows open, music off. They wasn't keen but they certainly enjoyed and preferred the car journey coming home as I think they hated the vets that much! anything was better than the vets x

Lol dreaded vets, wasn't sure whether to cover the carrier with a blanket so she's in the dark or whether to let her see out

I think covering her is a great idea and it will probably make her more secure. I didn't cover mine because their carriers are quite dark anyway with only really the front to look out. xxx

My rabbits weren't fazed by the car at all, but they might be the exception :) Maybe the fact they were together helped. Good luck x

My two have their carriers in their rooms 24/7 and I've rarely had issues getting them in them, especially Poppy as she refuses to be handled :) Good lucl :)
