Has anyone used them/ Neil Forbes recently? Thanks

Not sure if this should be in health or not?

These are my current vets, Neil himself is great & has always been very helpful, closely followed by Tom & Fiona. For me dan & Tariq wasn't as clued up as the others.

They were amazing with Harvey, and could never fault them, but I must admit I always think maybe we should have done more for honey! :(

Honestly if you have any questions, feel free to pm me xx

Thank you so much for replying. That's helpful thank you.

They were very quick to respond when my vet sent notes over. So I am impresses so far. Just need to sort out the referral appointment on Monday:)

Wow they are good. A vet rang me at 8 this morning to go through everything.

Once it was all booked and sorted they gave me an estimate of costs and let's just say good job I was still lying down!

Yeah as they are 24 hour, they have a handover at 8am each morning, so between 8 and 9 they are normally busy contacting people with bunny updates etc. then start surgery from 9!

I know!!!!!! Whilst both honey & Harvey was going their weekly, and no insurance... We had to take out a loan!! To be fair it doesn't help the referral costs, as these are an extra £100 on top but even the procedures are sky high. But after Harvey, I'll never go to a standard vet practice again, so in my eyes it's worth it but I know what you mean. They are quite strict with payment plans too.

With the estimates.. maybe it's just me.. But I've always had some knocked off & it's never been the actual estimate price as they'll go through the individual price & procedure with you once they have seen the bunny & you've signed consent! Xx

Let's hope we are in a bit knocked off category as its over £1000 just for diagnostics. So treatment will be extra!

I spoke to Tom and he made me feel much happier about things. He has a make you feel safe voice :)

I chose them because they have a specialist vet on 24/7 and Clem may need to stay over night if his breathing is bad after the procedures. I'm hoping they do provide a king size bed for him if he does stay there. It's what he is use to and for those prices I think they should ;)

Oh god! I feel your pain!

Yeah I do like Tom, think he's Neil's second in command! :) he's always been helpful too and did Harveys emergency surgery. I know what you mean about his voice, wait till you meet him!

Aww poor Clem, hope he's Okay? Bless him - and I remember the pics of him on 'his' kingsize bed! Lol! :)

They do have specialists 24/7 but they are on call at night rather than actually being based on the site. They normally have a senior nurse on and if they aren't happy with anything, they're called straight in.

With the hospitalisation, they have a kennel.. Guessing for Clem is will be one of the larger ones but they all have under floor heating & a little house to hide in. What I will say is food wise, they always have a good selection of veg & herbs, and if they like any ones in particular they'll send the nurses over the road to tesco to get some for them. (I always do it & request dill which they normally don't have to make sure my bunnies have fresh! - naughty I know!)
And I know with my two when I have been allowed up stairs, they also have a bowl of dried forage and Timothy hay! :)

Plus depending on how many bunnies they have in, they always allow them to have a run out on the ward. I would imagine with Clem they'll put him in his own ward, so he'll get a good run around! :) If Clem is used to litter trays, they'll make sure he has one, but sometimes can be tight on the amount of hay on them, whereas mine have it overflowing so they can munch & poop. Xx

Thanks so much for the reply :)

Clem is absolutely perfect with his litter tray but sadly can no longer eat hay at the moment :( I actually went out and bought him a packed lunch box today! Sounds like he won't go hungry ;)

So Clem went today and was seen by Neil Forbes. He had a CT scan and endoscopy.

We were incredibly impressed.

Unfortunately Clem needs a really complex operation :( Neil says there are big risks but I think if anyone can do it he can. He is the Noel Fitzpatrick of the exotics world!

I was wondering how Clem was doing. So sorry to hear that he is still so poorly. Crossing everything I can for him x

Gosh, I missed this. I was only wondering how Clem was doing the other day. Hector always has his packed lunch to go to the vet. In fact, I still have a Tupperware here with Dylan's name written on it for vet trips!! I hope he goes on ok :)
